Energy Performance Certificates Services

What is a Commercial EPC?

A Commercial EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) is a legal document that demonstrates the energy efficiency of a non-domestic property, such as offices, shops, warehouses, factories, and public buildings. Similar to domestic EPCs, commercial EPCs rate the building from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient) and provide recommendations for improvement, including suggestions for enhancing floorplans to optimize energy use.

Key Features of a Commercial EPC:

Energy Rating (A–G): Indicates how energy-efficient the building is.

CO₂ Emissions: Shows environmental impact in terms of carbon dioxide output.

Energy Use Breakdown: Assesses areas such as heating, cooling, lighting, and ventilation.

Recommendations: Lists cost-effective and potential improvements to increase efficiency, which may also include Legionella risk assessments to ensure safe water systems.

When is a Commercial EPC Required?

You must have a valid Commercial EPC if:

You are selling, renting, or constructing a commercial building.

The property has a roof, walls, and uses energy to condition the indoor climate (i.e., heating or air conditioning).

Who Can Provide One?

Only qualified and accredited Non-Domestic Energy Assessors can issue a commercial EPC. The type of EPC depends on the complexity and size of the building (Level 3, 4, or 5 assessments).

How Long is it Valid?

A Commercial EPC is valid for 10 years, unless significant changes are made to the building's structure or energy systems.

Why is it Important?

It is a legal requirement in the UK.

Helps potential buyers and tenants understand energy costs and efficiency.

Contributes to environmental responsibility and potential cost savings through recommended upgrades.
